When will people stop charging into other people's lives causing so much damage through sheer ignorance? Persecuting Christians my big toe. Why didn't god stop this? Because there isn't one! We don't need a god to live good caring lives and do no harm to others, so I see the book as being about a lot of delusional kids - much like George Bush - who know nothing about anything, interfering in another culture. We need education and understanding, not our god is better than your god.

I found the book very enjoying and it drew me to a deeper relationship with G-d. The revelation knowledge that I experienced was spirit quickening, as well as, enlightening. If you are grounded and rooted in the word, then you should have no problem with this book, because it is just fiction. If you know the truth, then the truth shall keep you free of all deception. Also, if you truly know G-d, this book should not distort your view of Him. The author never said that this was a replacement to the Bible. It is a Fiction novel, not non-fiction. Additionally, the author never stated that this book was the core of Christianity or any other religion. I found compassion, brokeness, forgiveness, love, grace, and mercy to abound in this novel. I believe that we all need something or someone to challenge us, during our spiritual walk, and draw us closer to Him. The Shack will prompt you to experience an encounter with the “true” living G-d and cry out to Papa. Shalom!

If you are looking for theology in a fiction novel, this book is not for you. READ YOUR BIBLE!

currently the bookclub i am attending is reading the power of now. i find your narrow-minded review laughable.... hope that you can de-program yourself one day and see that Tolle absolutely is not trying to present himself as god.

I too have wondered that if God is our father, then why is the word blasphemy uttered if someone mentions believing that we grow up to be like God (whose image we were made in). It is a fascinating discussion.

Check out this website. Richard Abanes has written a book about this topic as well as cut some YouTube videos.

Dear Donald Whitney, You seem to have forgotten that Jesus taught us to call God, our Father. If God is our Father then we too are gods, little gods perhaps at our present state of consciousness, but just like a lion cub grows up to be a lion, eventually we too will grow up to be like Jesus. Then we will be able to admit like Jesus did, "I and my Father (God) are one". Eckhart Tolle is merely rephrasing the teachings of Jesus.

mmmm what a terrible review of a very good book. Why is it that Christians are so close minded so much of the time?? I reckon God gave us a brain to use!!! Don't disguise your ideology as a book review
